Sinopse:
Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) é mais um rapaz comum de 28 anos, tentando encontrar algo em que realmente seja bom na vida. Ele encontra a solução de seus problemas quando é apresentado ao NZR, uma droga misteriosa que atua em sua cognição e libera a possibilidade de ele usar 100% da capacidade de seu cérebro. Ele então começa a trabalhar como consultor para o FBI, junto à Agente Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter), ajudando a resolver casos misteriosos com suas novas habilidades. Porém, ele também tem contatos clandestinos com o Senador Edward Morra (Bradley Cooper), que também é usuário de NZT e tem seus próprios planos para o protegido.

Brian Finchs life takes an extraordinary turn when he uses a mysterious drug, NZT, that allows him to access his full brain capacity. However, when an NZT-related murder lands Brian on the FBIs radar, he uses the drug in an attempt to stay ahead of the authorities long enough to clear his name.

Brian risks his new FBI job when he disobeys orders to stay out of the investigation into a renowned journalists murder.

When Brian helps Agents Harris and Boyle investigate the murder of a retired FBI agent, theyre shocked to find a link to the elusive head of a notorious drug cartel. Also, Brian reconnects with an old flame, Shauna but worries her renewed interest is really in the NZT version of him.

Brians loyalty to the FBI is tested when Sands, Senator Edward Morras representative, demands he steals the FBIs secret files on NZT. Also, Agent Harris is emotionally conflicted when she learns what her estranged father left her following his death.

Brian learns a shocking secret about Rebeccas late father but worries that telling her will land him in legal trouble. Also, Brian accidentally meddles in Rebeccas personal life while learning self-defense from her secret boyfriend, FBI Agent Casey Rooks.

When Brian begins to experience the side effects of NZT again, Senator Morra demands he betrays Rebecca in exchange for another inoculation. Also, Brian secretly looks for an alternate cure for himself while he works with Rebecca outside FBI parameters to find the creators of NZT.
